Vetry Foundation

An NGO started by Mr. T. R. Sivaram, Managing Director of RCG, Vetry, aims to fight back against climate change and deforestation by planting more trees. Ever since the NGO’s inception in 2001, there have been 25,000 trees planted from Karuvampalayam moving through Andipalayam across the Mangalam areas. The nearby Iduvampalayam high school has also been undertaken by Vetry in 2008 to maintain a 10-acre green campus. The school has 24 classrooms and provides the right environment for the education of over 3000 students. The amazing volunteers at Vetry have planted over 10.5 lakh trees between 2005 and 2020. As a way of paying homage to Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam, we continue our mission of planting 1.5 Lakh trees every year, making Tirupur green and beautiful.

Our Recent Works

  • Supported by our Managing Director, Mr. Sivaram, RCG gave a local Tirupur government school a complete makeover in 2008. The infrastructure of the school is now as refined as any other private school in the country.
  • In 2013, Vetry helped de-silting the Andipalayam lake. The efforts have increased the water level of 5km radius from 120 feet to 300 feet level. With the help of local administration, government, and the public, we were able to de-silt the lake with reinforced rock stones. Currently, there is also a public park being built around the lake.
  • With our 135 thousand saplings already planted, our work has just started. We continue to water them regularly with over 30 tractors that have been donated to us by corporate sponsors. In 2016 alone, over 200 thousand more saplings were planted and we continue to plant 2500 saplings every day to make the Tirupur District much more greener and environmentally sustainable.

Vanathukul Tirupur

Our Recent Works

The name Vanathukkul Tirupur came with a dream of making the almost desert-like Tirupur to a forest-like environment. In the context of high industrialization and high pollution levels, the best of the measures to mitigate and rejuvenate nature is identified as planting trees. Trees’ ability to absorb carbon dioxide and release oxygen, recharge the water table, reduce pollution (noise, air, and water), and control ambient temperature prompted the members of VETRY to consider planting them as a nature-based solution. That is the time the clarion call of a visionary came to them. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam’s motivation to plant more trees became the best way to deal with most of our environmental problems, giving our team the vision and additional momentum.

VETRY named the program “Vanathukkul Tirupur”, as it is more than just instead of tree plantations due to this vision. They have realized that the ‘Vanam’, which means forest, is more than a plantation. They wanted to bring the bits and pieces of the forest to their proximity, physically and mentally.
